NORFOLK AND SUFFOLK PALLIATIVE AND END OF LIFE ACADEMY
Objectives:
This is a partnership with stakeholders who are commissioners, providers and users of palliative/EOL care education committed to developing quality in delivery of care. The objectives are:
i. To identify and map the current provision and commissioning of palliative and end of life care education in Norfolk, Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney.
ii. To develop a proposal for the delivery of the Academy in partnership with local stakeholders and as a vehicle to achieve our objectives via a web portal and electronic prospectus of education and training available.
iii. To implement the web portal and electronic prospectus effectively.
iv. To develop a commissioning framework for the redesign of palliative and end of life care education so that accessible training and education is available in sufficient volume for the palliative and end of life care workforce across Norfolk, Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney.
v. To implement this framework via the Norfolk and Suffolk LETB/LWPG infrastructure
vi. To work in partnership with local providers to implement the redesign and the delivery of palliative and end of life care education so that content is accredited and validated to meet the national competency framework and delivered in sufficient volume to meet the needs of the workforce. This will involve working in partnership with local providers to review/revise approaches to relevant continuous professional development infrastructures in particular to design and delivery of Continuing Professional Development training with University of East Anglia for all non-medical clinical staff.
vii. To monitor and evaluate impact on quality of palliative and end of life care.
viii. To promote multi-professional and patient carer involvement in research about palliative and end of life care.
