Clinical and Practice
Our work in this area includes:
Artificial nutrition and hydration at the end of life (our practical guidance on this topic is available via the library)
Spiritual support - We've held to two successful conferences on the topic and published The Missing Piece: Meeting People’s Spiritual Needs in End of Life Care, a discussion document. Find out more here
Palliative sedation - Having held a very successful conference in January 2010, we are now planning a further conference in 2011 at which we will launch new guidance on this issue.
Advancing Care Planning (ACP) & the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) - supporting the process by which people can plan ahead and express what they would like to happen with their care and treatment if they lost capacity to make their own decisions. Find out more here
Do Not Attempt Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation - We held a masterclass event in summer 2009 to showcase ways in which people have been working to create integrated resuscitation policies.
Get involved
Our policy and campaigns work can only be effective if we have the support of professionals working in the field and those with personal experience of using services. Visit the Get Involved section to find out how you can help us to influence the decision-makers and improve practice on the ground.
